Adult Mental Health First Aid

The Adult Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) course is appropriate for anyone age 18 and older who wants to learn how to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health related crisis or problem. It teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions. This is an 8-hour course that focuses on recovery and resiliency. The Adult Mental Health First Aid course is appropriate for anyone age 18 and older who wants to learn how to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health related crisis or problem.

Youth Mental Health First Aid

The Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course is primarily intended for adults to learn how to help young people experiencing mental health challenges or crises. It reviews the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents ages 12-18 and emphasizes the importance of early intervention. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

Course Descriptions

Everyone can play an essential role in helping those with mental health or addiction concerns. The AMHFA and YMHFA are 8-hour courses with the option for In-Person, Virtual, and Blended training formats. Participants receive a 3-year certification that will be available online after completion of the course.
